How much do you want it?
I decided to go to NYC for two months during the summer for a personal project, after the first month of having photo walks everyday, I was walking around Brooklyn when I got a notification on my e-mail, it was from Rangefinder Magazine saying that I was nominated for The 30 Rising Stars 2019 (wait, WHAT?!).
I was so surprised that I even took a picture of my view because I wanted to remember where I was and what I was felling at that moment.
Now if you’re wondering about this magazine...
Rangefinder is one of the best weddings and portraits magazines from all over the world and it’s based in NYC.
You don't apply for this, someone from the industry or from the magazine has to nominate you (Who ever you are, thank you!).
To be honest I felt quite overwhelmed, because I had some other plans for me at NYC.
With work scheduled for the last month and two awesome weddings to cover, I had to review all the work I’ve had done at weddings for the past 5 years, re edit my entire website, answer some pretty hard questions of my work and select the photos that represent me today.
(Photographers will understand what is like to do all of this).
At first it was so much to take, it was just no rest for me. Honestly I don’t know how I managed to have that much energy, (I guess is the NYC effect that helped me trough this).
I laughed, I shouted of happiness, I cried on my friend’s shoulders, danced off the stress, cried and laugh more in all of this process.
Now that I’m writing this, I can tell you that this helped much more than I expected, it made me see the evolution of my work and helped me appreciate it in a different way (it’s not easy at all to criticize your own photos).
I can’t thank enough to the ones that were with me at this, I wouldn’t done it without the love and good vibes I got from old and new friends.
I’m so thankful to have talented and kind people around me (You guys know who you are, if you’re reading this, I love you).
Thanks to all these amazing couples that trusted me, I feel incredibly lucky to have met all of you! Thank you for you for letting me tell your story in my spontaneous way!
I used to tell to my closest ones that I felt something big was coming for me, I dIdn’t know what, when or how but I really felt that. Not Long ago someone told me I was way too far from my dreams and didn’t believed in me, this is for you too, It turned out I was closer than I expected.
Dear friends, don’t let anyone make you feel you don’t deserve something, we are here to follow our dreams. It took me a while to realize I was on the wrong path, but lucky for me I have some pretty awesome best friends who helped me through this (you guys are the BEST!)
Stay close to the ones that inspire you and you’ll get there sooner than you think.
And if you’re wondering how badly I wanted this? I wanted it that much that some years ago I said to myself that I was going to be on that selection one day, worked my ass off to get where I am now, and made it to The 30 Rising Stars of 2019 by Rangerfinder Magazine from more than 300 nominees.
(I guess I have always been a lucid dreamer)
Congrats to all! I can’t believe I’m accompanied with so much talent from all over the world! It’s such an honor to be mentioned next to photographers I admire. I’m sure this is the beginning of something incredible for all of us (hope we can set up that meeting).
Last but not least, thank you Rangefinder Magazine, this is not just a mention for us photographers, on my personal experience, it made me grow a lot, it challenged me in way I didn’t know I could make it, it made me see my evolution as a photographer and OMG the inspiration and motivation I have at this moment is infinite. Thank you!
So, for the ones that don’t know me,
I’m Daniela, I’m a big fan of love and I would love to document your story from my perspective,
